The Abstract Index Books are transactions (such as sales, mortgages, leases, grants, etc) regarding a specific property, and includes all parties mentioned in those transactions from the time of a Crown patent and each consecutive owner. They are arranged chronologically by lot and concession. The file numbers listed in the books refer to the number assigned to each land record at the time of registry. Beginning and ending dates vary within each lot, town and township. Microfilm of original records in possession of the Registrars Office, Barrie, Ontario; though the microfilm can also be found at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah.
